POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is the choirmaster and principal musician for traditional worship experiences at Wesley Memorial. 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                  

Ministry

• Leads the congregation in music-making experiences so they may grow in understanding the Christian faith and music’s role in faith.
• Serves as producer for assigned televised worship services, overseeing the set-up, production, securing soloists and proofing the final video.
• Responsible for effective management of assigned budget and endowment funds.

Education

• Oversees the Chancel choir, along with other choral and handbell choirs.
• Selects and teaches the music to choir members in preparation for worship services.

Performance

• Continues to develop personal musical skills through study, practice, workshops and private lessons.
• Responsible for advertising, auditioning, selection and supervision of certain paid contractors including the Wesley Singers.

Maintenance

• Responsible for the maintenance of assigned musical instruments including sanctuary and chapel pipe organs, sanctuary, chapel and choir room pianos,

Other

• Other duties may be assigned by the Manager of Building Usage and Hospitality or Senior Pastor.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:  

• Minimum 5 years of significant, successful experience in leading congregations in traditional music.
• Demonstrated experience managing professional musicians. Experience managing volunteers is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience with basic financial management of programming and events.

The role of Director at Wesley Memorial School (WMS), located in High Point, North Carolina, will administer the day-to-day operations and long-term planning of the weekday early childhood ministry at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. This will include, but may not be limited to developing, organizing, and implementing plans and policies reflecting the church’s desires to reach out to the community. The Director will provide a developmentally appropriate and nurturing learning environment for children ranging from infant – kindergarten through Wesley Memorial School and WMS Summer Camp.

The Director should be well organized, a good communicator, and work well in a team environment. The Director will supervise 25+ staff members.

Wesley Memorial School has multiple class offerings Monday – Friday from 9am -1pm and has an average enrollment of 145 children with a waiting list.

Qualifications:

• A heart for the local church, a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and a passion to help others find and follow Jesus
• Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Family & Child Development, Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field of study. The Director should also have experience or training in management, leadership, and curriculum.
• Have prior experience as a childhood program director, preferably in a Christian weekday school setting

Hours and Salary:

Full time with benefits, mid-$40K’s
